There’s a pretty incredible passage of scripture found in the book of Ezekiel. In Chapter 37, God speaks to Ezekiel and places him in the midst of a valley of dry bones where God then asks Ezekiel this question: “Son of man, can these bones live?” Ezekiel’s response? “Sovereign Lord, you alone know.” Brilliant answer. Modern day translation? “Uh, well, you tell me.” God’s command to Ezekiel is simply this: “Prophecy to these bones and say to them, ‘Dry bones, hear the word of the Lord.’” So Ezekiel does and, behold, the dry bones come together and rise. But they’re just bones. There’s no life in them. Next would come the prophecy of tendons and flesh. Before Ezekiel stands an army, but, there’s no life. So God commands Ezekiel, “Prophecy to the breath; prophecy, son of man, and say to it, ‘Come, breath, breathe into these slain that they may live.’” And as Ezekiel does as God commands, breath enters the people.

What a powerful picture showing the incredible promises of God painted thousands of years ago through the prophet Ezekiel. God was saying to his people that, even though they felt all was lost, God was not finished breathing life into them. You know, the same is true for us today, right? Hear this:

God is still in the business of breathing life into things that may appear lifeless. This is good news for us all!

This Sunday in the Harvest, we launch a new series called Wonderlife. I draw inspiration from a lot of places and, last year, I was given a little book written by Mike Foster called Wonderlife: The Not-So-Perfect Guide to Who You Are and Why You’re Here.

There are four principles that the author addresses:

  1. I believe my story matters
  2. I am unashamed about what I love and care about
  3. I am honest about my obstacles and opportunities
  4. I am fully present in my life.

Last week, we talked about “story”, so this week, we’ll jump into life principle number two: I am unashamed about what I love and care about. Let’s talk about our hearts’ desires and answer the question, “How exactly do I find God’s will for my life?”

Let’s talk dreams, passions, desires, and purpose over these next few weeks, shall we? This series has been on my heart for over a year, now. Let’s jump and see what God has in store for us all!
