In our garden, we have a beautiful collection of flowers called Mexican petunias. If you have them in your yard, you might be aware that they’re quite aggressive. They love to take over. That said, they also have another quality that I have grown to really love. Every morning, like clockwork, they burst into bloom, displaying their vibrant colors and filling the air with their sweet fragrance.
As I walked out of the house this morning and spent a little time looking at their new blooms, I was reminded of God’s faithfulness and the promise of new beginnings.
In Lamentations 3:22-23 we read, “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” Just as the Mexican petunias bloom afresh each day, God’s love and mercy are renewed every morning.
These little flowers inspired me this morning. So, today, three quick reminders for you, friends.
One, God’s love is steadfast. These flowers bloom every morning. I don’t have to ask them to; it’s just what they do. That’s a good representation of God’s love. Despite the challenges and uncertainties we face, God’s love remains constant. His love for us never ceases, regardless of our circumstances.
Two, His mercies are new every single morning. Just as there are blossoms to greet me each morning as I walk out with my coffee in hand to start the day, God’s mercies are fresh and abundant as well. His compassion and grace are not limited or depleted. Each day brings an opportunity for us to experience His renewed mercies and find strength in His unfailing love.
Three, those little flowers teach us to embrace new beginnings. Each morning, they remind me that yesterday’s failures and disappointments do not define us. God’s faithfulness grants us the chance to start anew, to grow and to flourish in His love.
So today, take a lesson from these little blooms. Remember God’s faithfulness and the promise of new beginnings. Embrace the steadfast love and comfort found in His renewed mercies each day. May all of our lives reflect the beauty of God’s love and the grace to those around us.
