Grace and peace, friends, in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Like many of you, last Saturday night I found myself glued to the headlines with the latest news unfolding regarding the unrest in the Middle East.
I scrolled. I refreshed. I worried. The weight of it all – the images, the uncertainty, the sheer heaviness of the moment – pulled me.
But then, a verse came to mind. It was as if there was a quiet whisper in the anxiety of the moment that reminded me of the following:
But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint. – Isaiah 40:31 (ESV)
That verse coming to me in that specific moment was not a coincidence. I think it was a beautiful and perfectly timed holy interruption. A reminder that, in anxious times, we mustn’t run ahead of God; we’re invited to walk with Him. Slowly. Steadily. Faithfully.
If you’re feeling anxious today, here are two gentle reminders from that verse the Lord might be whispering to you today:
Strength is found in stillness. The world tells us to react, to hustle, to solve. Yet, the Lord often simply says, “Wait.” Trust. Those who wait on Him – not the headlines, not the next breaking news alert – are the ones who are renewed.
God’s pace is perfect. Waiting doesn’t mean God is absent. It means He is simply aligning us with His timing, which is always perfect. What I have found to be true about the Lord is that He’s never late. He’s always working behind the scenes, even when we can’t see it.
So, today, if you’re weary, don’t carry it alone, and resist the temptation to scroll yourself into a place of anxiety. Instead, pause, pray and remember – waiting upon the Lord is never wasted.
Waiting right there alongside you,
– Mark
