If you made it to Harvest worship services this past Sunday morning, you learned a little more about your pastor than you may have known. I lose my keys. Chronically! In fact, no kidding, immediately after the 11:00 a.m. Harvest service and our groundbreaking event at 12:15 p.m., I went to lunch with my family and – you guessed it – I lost my keys. Again! However, someone shared the following story with me today that made me feel a little better about myself.

Apparently, a resident of Frankfurt, Germany, recently found his car right where he left it over 20 years ago. The man, now 76 years old, reported his car missing to police in 1997 when he couldn’t find the car after leaving it in a parking lot outside an industrial building he was visiting. After hearing nothing new, the man assumed the car was gone for good. That is, until a construction crew began to demolish the building last year and reported the untended car in the garage. After checking through the old records, the police located the over 20-year-old report.

The story ends with the following line: “When the man and his daughter went to recover the car, it wouldn’t start.” No surprise there.

Here’s the good news we can claim today:

When it comes to being God’s children, there’s never a season in our lives when we are lost.

Maybe your circumstances are overwhelming. Maybe the battle is fierce in your life right now. Remember, in all seasons, the Lord is near. Remember what Moses told the Israelites when the battle was closing in: “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” (Exodus 14:13-14)

There’s a pretty good equation for us all today, right? No fear + standing firm = deliverance from the Lord.

Believe it. CLaim it. Live it.
