In his book, A Hunger for God, author and pastor John Piper makes this beautiful statement:
“If you don’t feel strong desires for the manifestation of the glory of God, it is not because you have drunk deeply and are satisfied. It is because you have nibbled so long at the table of the world, your soul is stuffed with small things, and there is no room for the great. God did not create you for this. There is an appetite for God and it can be awakened.”
Oh my goodness. So, so good, right?
I wonder. How much am I nibbling on the small things the world deems as great, and in the process of my nibbling, am I missing out on the greater God has promised? I think that this speaks to what God has been showing us all through the Wonderlife series we’ve been working through in the Harvest services. I’m fully convinced that you can’t speak into the topics of “identity” and “purpose” and not be awakened to the life God has created us all to live in and discover.
This Sunday, we’ll wrap up the Wonderlife series with a special treat: Mike Foster, author of the book, Wonderlife, will be in all three services in the Harvest to speak to the final chapter of the Wonderlife series: “I Am Fully Present in My Life.” It’s going to be an incredible day of worship. Go ahead and reach out to a friend or a neighbor and bring them along with you to either 9:30 a.m., 11:00 a.m., or the 5:30 p.m. services on Sunday.
You’re going to love the last of the series! Can’t wait!
