Oh, Valentine’s Day. Remember when you used to have to actually walk into stores to shop for your Valentine? Now, we’re much more advanced – the stores actually come out into the parking lot to meet you. Have you noticed this? Now, these pop-up Valentine’s Day tents are available. You just wander in, stroll around, and pick up the first red and pink item that grabs you. Someone was talking with me about this yesterday and I was struck by the comment. They simply said, “Don’t you just wish finding what you wanted in life could always be that easy?” How true is that? Looking for purpose?

Show me the pop-up tent store that is custom fit to who we are and what we were created to do and tell me that wouldn’t be just the greatest! Sign me up for that! Perfect, right? Or is it? Isn’t part of the fun in the journey found in the daily walk and pursuit of it all?

This is where I spoke from last Sunday in Harvest. Finding who you are and who you were created to be begins with understanding that God’s will is simply leaning into the truth that we’re to live in the now, the present. Remember Paul’s words from 1 Thessalonians: “Rejoice always. Pray continuously. Give thanks in all circumstances for this is God’s will for you in Jesus Christ. Don’t quench the Spirit.” There are a lot of things that threaten to put out the fire which God has placed in us all. So, daily, go to the tent of God’s presence which is conveniently located within. Turn off the noise. Step away from the crowds. Be wary of anything that threatens to quench God’s fire inside you. And then? Listen. What is God saying? Seek it out. Then step. Watch what God can do!

This Sunday in the Harvest we’re going to jump into week 3 of our #Wonderlife series: “I am HONEST about my obstacles and opportunities”. What do you do with a dream that may not match God’s will for your life? Ready to dig into this one and see what God has in store.
