Love this…

Life is like a sailboat. You can have a destination in mind, but you’ll never get there if you don’t pay attention to the wind. The wind is the key to everything. your job is not to paddle- that is a last resort. Your job, if you choose to accept it, is to catch the wind. And once you raise the sails, you need to steer the boat.

Sometimes the wind is at your back and it’s easy. Other times the wind is against you. But good sailers know that if you angle the boat slightly you can still catch the wind and move forward. But in the end, sailing is not so much about the destination, but the journey. -Mike Foster

Life is anything but predictable.

Screen Shot 2016-06-23 at 9.13.30 AMThe other morning I was putting contact lenses in my eyes and noticed that my right eye was not focusing. It was the weirdest thing. I would put my contact lense in, try to focus, and my vision was blurry. But when I would take it out, I realized that I could see perfectly. What on earth? Had I been healed?

Then the epiphany. I hadn’t taken the lense out the night before. It was already in there. I just didn’t realize I was adding to something that was already working for me.

I love the simplicity of God’s call to Abram in Genesis 12. God promises Abram and his family “blessing” and “provision”. And God’s instruction? “Go to a place that I will show you.” That’s it. No map. No GPS coordinates. And what’s even more amazing? Abram goes. You know why? Because, when you look at the Hebrew of this passage, you get that God said something more along the lines of, “Go to a place that I will cause you to see“.

It’s as if God is telling Abram,

Set your sails and follow my lead. I will get you there. Promise.

God certainly did. Read here.

Lately, I have been working through a pretty terrific book called Wonderlife written by Mike Foster. I think the best way to describe this book is “interactive”. It speaks to you but it also encourages you to talk back. Loved this particular quote above on sails and wind.

Life is quite the adventure.

There are dips, there are turns, there are roadblocks and forks in the road. But, the good news? There’s also wind. God’s Spirit is guiding, His voice is still speaking today, and He is moving.

Our job? Set sails, move forward, and enjoy the journey.

Happy sailing today, friends!

I will teach you and tell you the way to go and how to get thereI will give you good counsel, and I will watch over you. -Psalm 32:8
