Recently, I had the opportunity to take a second trip with my wife to Haiti and check in on two orphanages our church sponsors. On the last day, I climbed to the roof of the guest house we were staying in because I wanted to catch the sunset on film. So, I pulled up a chair, positioned it in just the right spot, and took in God’s creation. It was beautiful watching the sun set. But, just before the sun disappeared over the horizon, I looked over my shoulder and saw the moon. I was caught completely unaware. It was breath taking.

I believe it was Louie Giglio that referenced the moon in one of his books. The analogy sticks with me today. The truth? The moon gets a lot of credit. I mean, honestly. Did you see the picture I snapped on the roof of that guest house? The moon is beautiful. But, the truth of the matter is that the moon is just a chunk of rock. There is nothing really beautiful about that ball of dirt. What makes it beautiful is the sun. The moon simply takes and bears the sun’s reflection.

You and I have that same potential. We have the opportunity to take the love that God gives to each of us and hold up mirrors in our lives and let that love reflect and shine on those we come in contact with.

Can I ask a question? What are you reflecting? The world needs to see a true, accurate picture of the love that the Father has for each of us. Let that love be seen through you. Be a moon. God will shine. All you have to do? Reflect that glory and God will draw people to Him through you.

Matthew 5:14-16

“And you, beloved, are the light of the world. A city built on a hilltop cannot be hidden. Similarly it would be silly to light a lamp and then hide it under a bowl. When someone lights a lamp, she puts it on a table or a desk or a chair, and the light illumines the entire house. You are like that illuminating light. Let your light shine everywhere you go, that you may illumine creation, so men and women everywhere may see your good actions, may see creation at its fullest, may see your devotion to Me, and may turn and praise your Father in heaven because of it.” The Voice (VOICE)
